Sex Games by Natalie Acres

When I started reading Sex Games it was really easy to get into but after about twenty minutes, I found myself thinking that the book was going on too long. Then by the end of the book it felt like the author had decide to shove everything including the kitchen sink in. Thankfully there were a few OMG moments that offered the book a healthy dose of redemption. Especially when one of the main characters, Pat, turns out to have a very dark side. I have read a lot of romance novels and even more erotica novels, so I am no shrinking violet when it comes to the genre. In fact, it's pretty much the only thing I read.  But this book disturbed me a little.

In this book Vicky winds up with three brothers, Pat, Joshua and Aspen. Everything seems to be going well, the brothers save her from a  disillusioned manic who wants to rape and torture her before killing her, not once but twice.
To some this may be a little taboo after all she is boinking three brothers and one of them is only 19. For me its not an issue. If it was real life I would definitely have my reservations. But I digress. My problem doesn't come in until after the “bad guys” are dealt with. Pat is a doctor and the author easily makes you root for him to get passed his issues and commit to Vicky. But then W-A-M! Somewhat out of nowhere the guy wants to lock her up in a cage for days, beat her and literally turn Vicky into a slave. Some people might not have a problem with this. But I do. And I think YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK to fully understand.

Natalie Acres more than makes up for the fact that the book drags along in some parts but in a disturbing way. She describes and provides Pat with an extremely scary side. The author does everything in her power to force you to love Pat. And You do. You think that the he and his brothers are going  be the perfect men for Vicky and then all of a sudden your freaking out, wondering if she will be safe them.  Seriously YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!

And as icing on top of this cake you have Joshua. I loved Joshua. Parts of him. I couldn't stand the fact Joshua knew his brother Pat was freakish enough to want to turn Vicky into a living Zombie who only served to “pleasure him“. Joshua and Pat shared a woman (Taylor) before when they where younger and Joshua saw “the woman he loved” (back then) locked and chained in a cage dirty and matted and treated worse than a garbage. The author states that Taylor choose that lifestyle but she makes it clear that Joshua didn't like or approve of it, thought it was wrong but yet he continued to bump and grind with Taylor and Pat. If he was so against it, like she says, then how and the hell does he willingly let the “love of his life",Vicky,  go and be with Pat when he knows what Pat wants to do to her? For example: There is one scene where Joshua is standing in the corner bouncer-esk like because he doesn't trust Pat not to hurt Vicky. I’m sorry if I come across ignorant or rude because that’s not my intent. And I have nothing against that “lifestyle” but the whole I’m gonna lock you in a cage and lick my boots thing isn't for me.

I find it annoying that the Author  managed to write these scenes just perfect enough to disturb me.  Anyway I've read plenty of Bondage and BDSM and D/S erotica books. And I have never really had a problem with them. Its not my everyday cup of tea but I can still read them and enjoy them. I don’t mind the light stuff but when it crosses over to deprecation and humiliation its time to move on to a new book. However I forced myself to finish this one because Aspen and Joshua never give Pat a full opportunity to act on his weirdness. I love Aspen because from the beginning of this mess his opinion was “Uh-oh , nope! Your not chaining my girl up like a dog.” And even though there are parts of this book that I absolutely hate I would still say this book is a good read. I hate Pat being such a weirdo and I hate the ending but I liked the plot, I loved the romance and thanks to her ability to get me riled up with frustration and an extreme case of disturbed confusion I have officially became a fan of Natalie Acres. From a creativity and literary stand-point I find it amazing how she managed to flip me up side down and over with what is only about only two to four paragraphs worth of describing the dirty side of Pat.  I probably won’t re-read this book but I definitely will read more from this author. In-fact up next by Natalie Acres is  “WANTED BY OUTLAWS”
