Saying I was hooked is an understatement. I jumped straight past being in love with these characters to full blown fangirl madness and the "feels" are killing me. I seriously recommend that you watch the movie and read the books because it was in a word "epic."
I know many people rush to judgment and lump "Vampire Academy" in with Twilight but please don't. The VA movie(s) and books are infinitely better than twilight and have left me alternatively watching and reading them over and over again.
I worked in a bookstore for 5 years and constantly ignored this series and now looking back I can't believe how stupid I was. Richelle Mead created characters that you can't help but love and an over all story arch that is impeccable. Dimitri & Rose's (aka Romitri) forbidden love was put to the test and had me gasping in heartbreak and cheering for them to overcome the odds. There is more to the series than these star crossed lovers but for me they are the best thing about it.
Jumping back to the movie: I have to say the actors portraying Rose and Dimitri were perfection. I know it sounds corny to say but they are the characters. The chemistry between them is astounding and I couldn't fathom anyone else in these roles.I strongly suggest/urge/beg you to purchase the movie & book series. Whether you are a fan of the vampire/supernatural genre, a fan of romance or anything in between I know you will love it too.
