I wasn't certain that I would enjoy this book but I did. The main characters, Alex & Calla, are refreshingly quirky but confident and humorous at the same time. These two aided by Alex's feisty grandmother and Calla's surprisingly optimistic brother where the driving force behind this story.

Even though I loved these characters there where a few issues with the overall story that bugged me. First would be the scenario of Jeff McKay trying to ruin Calla's reputation. At the beginning of the book this seemed promising but it quickly turned into a clumsy mess that had no real substance behind it. And the resolution to the Jeff McKay problem felt so forced that I had to go back and re-read the book because I thought I must have missed something.

My second problem is the fact that Calla literally gets upset because she finds out that Alex is the one sending her flowers. I seriously think the character overreacted. When she first starts receiving the flowers she wishes that it was Alex but when she finds out it really was him she gets upset because he lied to her. Maybe I am missing the big picture but that seems like a dumb thing to get upset about. Like any other romance novel once the characters finally fall in love the have to go through some misunderstanding or betrayal before the can admit that they are indeed in love. I understand that this is in many ways an unspoken but an acknowledge must have for a romance novel... but I expected a better twist than this.

These two issues aside I definitely recommend this to readers looking for a fun, quirky and romantic read. The interactions of Calla & Alex make "Hollywood Scandal" worth reading. And these characters made for a truly enjoyable read which is why I give it 4 stars.

PS: If you are a fan of romance novels but prefer less "smut" this book provides the romance minus the "smut."
